Well, I am so excited! I've been working this past week on the first blog for Bellevue Girls Ministry - the design, content, layout - and the official "launch" was this Sunday! To celebrate the launch we are giving away a cool item every day this week. The blog will be a place where girls, moms, & leaders can read devotionals, be updated on the latest music & books, events, current issues, and more! I love working with these girls, and this will be another way for us to keep in touch and up-to-date. Check out: Bellevue Girls Ministry Blog and let me know what you think!

A Lie on the First Date
I'll never forget the first time I lied to Will. The college ministry at Kirby Woods (where Will and I met) was meeting together at the Bowling Alley to ring in the New Year (2003). Will asked me to be his "bowling partner, " and this was our first date. I thought this guy was pretty handsome, very smart, and definitely worth getting to know. So as we were waiting for our turn to haul the bowling ball down the slick lane, he leaned over and asked me, "So, have you heard of Nickel Creek?" This was the first sign to me that I really liked the guy, because I proceeded to lie to him (because I wanted to impress him of course) and said that I loved Nickel Creek. In reality, I didn't have a clue what kind of music they played...it could have been a small body of water somewhere for all I knew. The next day I was headed on the College Winter Retreat, and I asked my musically talented roommate Nicki if she had heard of this group. I was thankful that she had and gave me a CD to borrow.
Since then I have been hooked.
Will and I had the chance to see the band perform in Memphis and Chris Thile's solo concert also in Memphis. What I would give to hear them again! Chris is back on tour, with the nearest venue being Savannah, GA...maybe a road trip?
For the others of you that also had not heard of this incredible mandolin player, here you go:
Oh, and I promise that was the first and LAST time I lied to Will. :)

I Can't Live Without...
My chapstick, and not just any kind will do. My recent fav and one that leaves lips smooth during these frigid months from Beauti Control:
Also for the cold months, I can't live without this face moisturizer:

Creamy Cooker Chicken
Mmmm...Made this yummy (and super easy) chicken for the first time on Wednesday. It was so great to put it in the crock pot, go to work, and walk in the door at 830 that night with dinner already prepared. This will definitely be a repeat!
Creamy Cooker Chicken
1 envelope dry onion soup mix
2 cups light sour cream
1 can 98% Fat Free Cream of Mushroom soup
6 boneless, skinless chicken-breast halves
Combine soup mix, sour cream, and cream of mushroom soup in slow cooker. Add chicken, pushing it down so it is submerged in the sauce. Cover. Cook on low 8 hours.
I served it with green beans and red potatoes. Enjoy!

"I"

A challenge from one of my favorite authors and heroes in the faith:
"Sometimes it is in the smallest, most unseen things that Christ comes and says: 'See in it a chance to die. Die to your own thoughts and opinions, to your I in all its little private preferences.' For the deepest and greatest spiritual truth always meets us in the practical matters of everyday common life." ~Amy Carmichael "Whispers of His Power"
