Disciple NOW 2011 was incredible! I've been apart of a lot of disciples nows as a student, counselor, host home, and now staff member, and this one will always stand out in my mind as one of the best. Bellevue hosted "Leadership Rocks" (conference by Student Leadership University).Speakers were Darren Whitehead, Brent Crowe, and worship by Rush of Fools. The theme of the conference was "Chasing Elephants" based off of Brent's book ("Chasing Elephants: Wrestling With the Gray Areas of Life.") The messages were full of great content, practical, centered on God and His Word, and applicable no matter how old or what stage in life a person is in. A few quotes that stand out:
"Your reputation will take a lifetime to build but only one moment to destroy. You can ruin it in 140 characters." ~Brent Crowe
"Never allow your opinion to be more important than your relationships." ~B. Crowe
"Entitlement is a spiritual cancer." ~B.Crowe
"Your freedom in Christ will not be graded upon what you do. God is most obvious (glorified) in your motivation and attitude." ~B. Crowe
These were just a few from my pages of notes.
Many students commited their lives to Christ for the first time, and that is really what this weekend is all about! Bellevue had 45 homes full of students and volunteers (amazing volunteers that I am so grateful for) that digested this material, fellowshipped together, served together, and encouraged one another in their walks with Christ. One of my favorite weekends of the year...we should definitely do this more often! :)
